Power & Purpose: Women of Color Spotlight
This page honors the women of color who lead, heal, create, and uplift our communities, often behind the scenes, but always at the heart of change. By sharing their stories, we recognize their impact, affirm their power, and inspire future leaders to rise with purpose.
Bold in the past. Brilliant in the present. Building the future.

Power & Purpose
is a dedicated space that honors the brilliance, resilience, and impact of Women of Color who are making meaningful change in our communities—past, present, and future.
Each month, we spotlight a woman whose work uplifts, inspires, and transforms—whether through art, education, health, activism, entrepreneurship, or grassroots leadership. These women often lead quietly, with bold vision and unwavering purpose, creating ripples of progress that deserve to be seen, celebrated, and supported.
Recognizing Women of Color is not just about acknowledgment—it’s about rewriting the narrative. It’s about shining light on those who are too often overlooked despite being the backbone of families, communities, and movements. This space exists to affirm their power, preserve their stories, and inspire future generations to lead with purpose.

Meet This Month’s Spotlight

In this episode of Conversations with Cheryl Weston, Cheryl Weston launches her series “Women of Color: Our Past, Our Present, and Our Future,” highlighting influential women from Omaha whose work and leadership deserve recognition. Her guest, LaGhe Andrews—founder of LaGhe Music Entertainment—shares her mission to support the mental, physical, and emotional wellness of the Black entertainment community while creating opportunities for artists to grow professionally.

During the conversation, Andrews discusses her work as a multifaceted creative—music writer, photographer, and videographer—and her vision of building a “one-stop” resource for entertainers. She introduces “It’s a Vibe,” a music and comedy showcase designed as an edutainment experience that blends entertainment with wellness and positive community energy. Andrews also highlights the development of the “It’s a Vibe Juniors Workshop,” a program aimed at empowering youth ages 10–17 by teaching financial literacy, mental wellness, and the business side of entertainment, while partnering with organizations such as the Girls Club, YMCA, North High School, and the North Omaha Community Partnership.
The interview concludes with Andrews reflecting on her personal goals—including expanding her work beyond Omaha, building programs that can be replicated in other cities, and remaining authentic and grounded in her purpose—while encouraging viewers to stay connected to themselves, pursue their goals with intention, and move forward unapologetically.
